💨 Abstract

"Whalefall," starring Austin Abrams and Josh Brolin, is a survival thriller where a man gets swallowed by a whale and must escape with limited oxygen. The film explores Jay's strained relationship with his late, emotionally abusive father. Despite strong performances, the narrative struggles with depth and convincing emotional arcs. The thriller elements are well-executed, but the overall story feels unconvincing and overly sentimental. The film is set to release in October 2026.
