💨 Abstract
Live sports viewing, particularly among Gen Z, is declining. To combat this, leagues and broadcasters are exploring immersive viewing experiences using volumetric video generation. This technology allows fans to view plays from multiple angles using 3D footage captured by numerous cameras. Peripheral Labs, founded by Kelvin Cui and Mustafa Khan in 2024, aims to make this technology affordable. They leverage their experience in self-driving cars to reduce the number of cameras needed and lower costs.
