💨 Abstract

The Model Context Protocol (MCP) is a key component for AI interoperability, allowing AI models to securely access external data. Next week, MCP will receive a significant update, primarily changing how it handles session IDs to improve scalability. The current system requires servers to remember session IDs, which can be cumbersome at scale. The new "stateless" approach will make it easier to maintain and potentially cheaper to run large-scale AI systems.
