The Indian government has released a draft of Digital Personal Data Protection Rules, requiring parents' verifiable consent and identification for children's user accounts on online platforms. The rules also suggest potential data localisation requirements for specified personal data. Notably, the rules propose additional oversight on cross-border data sharing in certain cases. Entities can only use and process personal data if individuals have given their consent to 'consent managers'.
