đź’¨ Abstract
Indian households have shifted their spending patterns over the past 12 years, moving away from food and toward non-food items according to a State Bank of India report. This change is attributed to economic growth, government policies, and lifestyle shifts. The report notes a significant drop in cereal and pulse consumption in both rural and urban areas. Food expenditure has decreased in both rural and urban areas, while non-food expenditure has increased.
