💨 Abstract
Hindustan Zinc, an Indian miner majority-owned by Vedanta Ltd, plans to transition to renewable energy for powering its operations within the next five to seven years. The company aims to decrease emissions from thermal energy, which accounts for more than 90% of its emissions. The Indian government supports this transition, though it continues to defend domestic coal usage due to rising energy requirements.
