The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has declared a public health emergency in Georgia due to Hurricane Helene, deploying additional emergency personnel and resources. The HHS had already declared an emergency for Florida the previous day. Helene is one of the 14 most powerful hurricanes in U.S. history and the 7th most powerful to hit Florida, according to the National Hurricane Center.
