💨 Abstract
An historic winter storm across the U.S. South has resulted in extreme cold and ice, causing dangerous driving conditions, school closures, and travel disruptions. Record-breaking snowfall of up to 9 inches was recorded in various locations, including Milton, Florida, New Orleans, and North Carolina's Outer Banks. The cold weather has lingered since Tuesday, with temperatures expected to ease by Sunday. At least a dozen people have died due to the weather conditions.
