💨 Abstract
In the icy seas off Argentina's Patagonian coast, scientists discovered that southern right whales unexpectedly dive to the ocean floor to feed, even with their young calves. A study published in June documented that these filter-feeding whales find larger zooplankton near the seabed than at the surface. Researchers found that the calves also dive to more than 100 meters deep when they accompany their mothers, a behavior previously unknown.
