💨 Abstract
Despite legal reforms in India granting inheritance rights to women, families continue to exclude daughters, with most landowners being older widows, not daughters. This is due to deep-rooted beliefs and practices, as well as conflicting court rulings. The Hindu Succession Act (2005) aimed to give daughters equal rights in ancestral property, but it reduced the rights of widows.
