In February 2023, 47 drug samples manufactured by various firms were identified as "not of standard quality" by Central Drugs Laboratories, while 56 drug samples were found NSQ by State Drugs Testing Laboratories. One spurious drug sample from West Bengal was also discovered, made by an unauthorized manufacturer using a brand name owned by another company, currently under investigation.
