Between 2020 and February 2025, 72 student suicide cases have been reported in schools and colleges across Odisha, according to Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi. Reasons cited include mental pressure, harassment, academic stress, and domestic and love-related issues, among others. The chief minister is collecting information on measures taken or proposed for mental health awareness programs and training for teachers to identify and support students in distress.
