In a dispute over the timing of an election for the last vacant standing committee seat in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), Mayor Shelly Oberoi has directed the Commissioner to postpone the election from September 27 to October 5, citing insufficient notice and a violation of electoral rights. However, Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena overturned the postponement and ordered the election to proceed on September 27.
