Air Marshal SP Dharkar, a seasoned fighter pilot with 3,600 hours of flying experience, took over as the Vice Chief of the Air Staff on October 3. He succeeded Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh, who became the Chief of Air Staff on September 30. Dharkar has commanded a MiG-27 squadron and is an alumnus of several military institutions.
