The Assam government is investing over Rs 1,800 crore to upgrade the infrastructure of 252 rural state-run schools, as part of a project under the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF). Construction work has started and is expected to be completed by next year. The selected schools have been chosen based on the suggestions of MLAs from each assembly constituency.
