💨 Abstract

Avalanches are common in Badrinath and Mana valley during winter, particularly between January and March following fresh snowfall. The villages of Mana and adjoining areas practice century-old customs of shifting to lower regions due to this natural threat. Badripuri is vulnerable to avalanches and has suffered damage almost every decade. In 2014, an avalanche caused significant damage in the Narayan Parvat area of Badrinath.
