The brother of Santosh Deshmukh, a murdered sarpanch in Maharashtra, has demanded that accused Walmik Karad, a close associate of an NCP leader, should not be granted bail. He expressed concerns about a viral video showing police meeting the accused and potential evidence destruction. Deshmukh was abducted, tortured, and murdered on December 9 in an apparent extortion attempt against an energy company.
