NCP leader Jitendra Awhad criticized the Maharashtra government for the investigation into the murder of Beed sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh, claiming people are afraid to lodge complaints against Walmik Karad, an accused in the extortion case linked to the killing. Deshmukh was murdered in December for attempting to prevent an extortion bid on a windmill project.
