The West Bengal Cabinet has approved the establishment of a 660-megawatt supercritical electricity plant at Sagardighi, Murshidabad district, with 95% work already completed. The plant will be the first of its kind in eastern India. The Cabinet also approved plans for five additional power plants. The government aims to set up four more power plants, including a 1600 MW plant via a PPP model.
