A recent working paper said the share of the Hindu population decreased by 7.82 per cent between 1950 and 2015 in India, while that of Muslims increased by 43.15 per cent. The report comes ahead of the fourth phase of the Lok Sabha polls. In the 2011 census, Hindus (population) reduced to 79.8 percent from 80 percent.
