In Hamirpur, Praveen Kumar (BJP) won the Bir-Bagehra ward election in Sujanpur block, defeating Pyar Chand (Congress) by 41 votes. The seat was vacated by Rana, who won the Sujanpur by-election. The BJP claims the victory indicates a loss of faith in the Congress.
