In Chhattisgarh's Bastar region, 31 Naxalites were killed in an encounter with security forces on Oct 4. Three more bodies were recovered on Oct 5, and a search operation is ongoing. The encounter is the deadliest for Maoists since the state's creation 24 years ago. A security force member was injured, and weapons were recovered from the encounter site.
