💨 Abstract
China's BYD is seeking to manufacture electric cars in India, but has yet to receive a clear signal from the Indian government regarding easing of investment rules for Chinese businesses. BYD, in partnership with a local firm, submitted a $1 billion investment proposal last year. While it waits for approval, it is targeting wealthy Indian buyers with imported premium electric vehicles.
