The opposition Congress in Odisha has called for a judicial investigation led by a Supreme Court judge into the alleged assault of an Army officer's fiancée in police custody. They condemned the police's behavior as disgraceful and a source of shame for the state. The All India Democratic Women's Association is planning state-wide demonstrations demanding the arrest of the police officers involved. The BJP government has already initiated a judicial inquiry into the matter.
