A curfew was imposed in Churachandpur, Manipur, on March 17 as a precautionary measure after clashes between the Hmar and Zomi communities. The clashes followed the assault of a Hmar tribal leader the previous day. Prohibitory orders were already in place under Section 163 of the BNSS 2023 due to apprehensions of law and order breach.
