đź’¨ Abstract
The Dawoodi Bohra community, a small and tightly-knit Muslim sect, has expressed concerns to a parliamentary committee that the Waqf (Amendment) Bill does not recognize their unique status. They argue that the bill's regulations are incompatible with their religious practices and that they should be exempt from any Waqf board administration. This is due to their distinctive structure and the absolute authority of their spiritual leader, 'al-Dai al-Mutlaq'.
