💨 Abstract
The Supreme Court has issued pan-India guidelines on demolition of properties, stating that the Executive cannot arbitrarily demolish houses of citizens based on accusations of crime as it violates the principles of rule of law. The court also said the Executive cannot replace the judiciary in performing its core function. No demolition should be carried out without a prior show cause notice, and houses cannot be demolished merely because someone is an accused or even a convict.
