💨 Abstract
The Indian government plans to launch the Prime Minister Research Chair (PMRC) Scheme to attract 120 Indian-origin researchers and scientists over five years. The scheme aims to enhance research capacity, boost innovation, and improve India's global standing in science and technology. It will focus on 14 priority sectors, including semiconductors, AI, and clean energy. This initiative follows a NITI Aayog report highlighting India's brain drain problem, which recommends retaining top researchers and faculty.
