In Umaria, Madhya Pradesh, a three-month-old elephant calf was found abandoned and ill in the Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve's buffer zone. The forest authorities rescued the calf and are providing it care. The reserve has recently seen the sudden death of ten elephants in three days. The rescued calf does not belong to the surviving group of three elephants from a herd of thirteen.
