The critically endangered Red-Crowned Roofed Turtle has been reintroduced into the Ganga river as part of a government-led initiative to clean the river and boost its biodiversity. 20 turtles were released at a UNESCO Ramsar site in Uttar Pradesh on April 26. Each turtle was fitted with tracking devices to monitor their movements and progress in adapting to the environment.
