Tamil Nadu CM M K Stalin has expressed concern over the frequent arrest of Indian fishermen from Tamil Nadu by the Sri Lankan navy. In a letter to the External Affairs Minister, he requested stronger diplomatic measures to find a permanent solution to prevent such arrests, stating that they create fear and uncertainty among fishing communities and affect their livelihood.
