Five individuals drowned in the Godavari river in Tadipudi, East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh during a bathing incident on Wednesday morning. The group of 12 men were reportedly going to a nearby temple for the Shivaratri festival. Seven managed to survive, but five, mostly under 20 years old, were deceased. Search and recovery efforts for the bodies are ongoing.
