💨 Abstract
A high-level government committee has criticized the National Highway and Infrastructure Development Corporation (NHIDCL) and the contractor for the Silkyara tunnel project in Uttarakhand for serious lapses, leading to the tunnel's collapse in November 2023 and causing a functional compromise in the project. The lapses led to monetary loss to the exchequer, and the committee has recommended penal action against responsible officials.
