A Surat court has registered a criminal case against four policemen for allegedly torturing three men arrested for robbery. The policemen are accused of injecting petrol and chilli powder into the private parts of the men and beating them. The court initiated a suo motu inquiry based on the statements of the three accused and a doctor. The policemen are charged under Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita sections pertaining to voluntarily causing hurt and criminal intimidation.
