India and the European Union (EU) reaffirmed their commitment to democracy, rule of law, and human rights during the 11th India-EU Human Rights Dialogue held in Delhi. Both sides discussed various human rights issues, including civil and political rights, social, economic, and cultural rights, countering religious hatred, and eliminating discrimination. The EU reiterated its opposition to capital punishment while India stressed the importance of the right to development.
