Six people were killed and several others injured in a stampede at a Hindu temple in southern India, Tirupati, during a token distribution for free visits. The incident occurred as thousands of devotees queued early to collect the tokens during an auspicious period. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed condolences for the loss of lives.
