External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar urged the US to establish a consulate in Bengaluru and promised to open an Indian diplomatic mission in Los Angeles during a ceremony for the fifth US consulate in India. The new consulate in Bengaluru will commence operations soon, but will not initially offer visa services. Jaishankar emphasized the need for smooth travel and highlighted the large number of Indian students and diaspora in the US.
