💨 Abstract

Biocon Ltd chairperson Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw has called for the removal of tax on drugs for cancer treatment, chronic diseases, and rare diseases in India, citing high out-of-pocket expenses for patients. She urged the government to make lifesaving therapies affordable and waive tax on them, especially for drugs with monthly costs exceeding 5,000 rupees. The government has yet to respond to these calls.
