Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won the Haryana state elections on Tuesday, defying exit poll predictions favoring the opposition Congress party. The Congress party, however, has disputed the results, citing manipulation and subversion of the democratic process. In Jammu and Kashmir, an opposition alliance won elections, but the BJP maintained its Hindu base in the Muslim-majority region.
