Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma stated that the recent influx from Bangladesh into Assam is primarily by the majority community, not minority Hindus. The influx is due to the collapse of the textile industry in Muslim-majority Bangladesh, and workers are seeking employment in Tamil Nadu's textile industries. Hindu minorities in Bangladesh are not trying to enter India due to their patriotism, Sarma said.
