The Jadavpur University Teachers Association (JUTA) announced a half-day cease-work and sit-in on May 15 to demand an increase in the university's corpus fund. The association claims the state government has withheld salaries and underfunded maintenance grants, forcing the university to cover various expenses. JUTA also alleges that the higher education department is interfering in university matters such as pay, promotions, and leaves.
