In Maharashtra's Thane district, a court acquitted nine individuals accused of rioting and assault in a 2014 case due to lack of evidence and a hostile witness. The court cited insufficient proof as the offenses were not proven by the prosecution, despite a complaint alleging a group of 20-25 assailants stormed a residence and assaulted women.
