šØ Abstract
On March 22, a statewide bandh called by pro-Kannada groups to protest the assault on a bus conductor in Belagavi for not knowing Marathi occurred peacefully. The police made elaborate arrangements to prevent any disruption of law and order during the shutdown. Leading the protest, Kannada Chalavali (Vatal Paksha) convener Vatal Nagaraj termed the bandh a success.
