💨 Abstract

The CBI plans to appeal the Calcutta High Court for the death sentence of Sanjay Roy, who was given life imprisonment until death by a Sealdah court for the rape and murder of an on-duty doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. The CBI received advice suggesting the case could be categorized as the "rarest of rare", justifying capital punishment.
