Madhya Pradesh is set to have a ninth tiger reserve, the Madhav National Park (MNP) in Shivpuri district. The National Tiger Conservation Authority's technical committee approved the proposal on December 1. Currently, MNP has three tigers, two cubs, and will receive two more in March. Over 1200 square kilometres of forest area will be added to the park.
