The Maharashtra State Minority Commission has proposed mandatory teaching of Marathi language from Class I in Urdu schools and the regularization of temporary Marathi teachers in such schools, effective from the academic year 2025-26. These proposals have been sent to the state education department. The current shortage of Marathi teachers in Urdu schools is affecting the learning of Marathi language.
