Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has accused the Modi government of making the Goods and Services Tax (GST) a tool for "looting" the hard-earned money of the poor and middle class. He claimed that the GST, which primarily impacts public consumption, is complex and absurd due to nine different rates, and not a "good and simple tax".
