After 40 years, the process to move 377 tons of hazardous waste from the former Union Carbide factory in Bhopal began on Jan 1. The waste is being transported to Pithampur industrial area in Dhar district, 250 km away. The waste is expected to be incinerated within three months, with smoke passing through special filters to prevent air pollution.
