đź’¨ Abstract
A fast-track court in Muzaffarnagar acquitted eleven individuals accused in a 2013 riots case due to insufficient evidence. The charges, including dacoity and arson, were based on a complaint by Umerdeen, who alleged his home was looted and set on fire during the communal violence. The 2013 riots resulted in over 60 deaths and thousands displaced, with the Special Investigation Team (SIT) investigating multiple cases.
