Amidst BJP's criticism of the Congress over B R Ambedkar, Uttar Pradesh Congress chief Ajay Rai stated that Jawaharlal Nehru secured a seat in the Constituent Assembly for Ambedkar after his previous seat went to East Pakistan. Ambedkar was later elected as a member in a by-election.
